Description

The Department of Sociology of Management and Social Work founded in the School of Sociology of V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University in 1990.
Since 1990, the Department trains students of “social management” specialization within the branch of “sociology”. Since 2001, the Department also trains students in the field of “social work”.   Now the Department of Sociology of Management and Social Work has the status of one of the leading centers in Eastern Ukraine that trains qualified specialists in social work.
The Curriculum combines theoretical and practical training and includes following disciplines: Sociology of Management, Social Policy, Social Defense, Management of Social Projects, Social Audit, History of Social Work, Theory and Methods of Social Work, Technology of Social Work, Management and Marketing in Social Work, Modern Social Services, Consulting, HR-management, StrategicPlanning and others. The training process also includes introductory and work practice.
Academic staff of the Department includes ten lecturers including seven associate professors that have PhD degree (candidate of sciences degree) and two full professors. All of them take an active part in various conferences, seminars, trainings, summer schools and research projects in the field of sociology and social work.
The main scientific interests of the Department are the next:
– social services market;
– problems of social agencies providing services for internally displaced people (IDP) in Kharkiv   region;
– labor market;
– dispute resolution (in particular labor dispute resolution);
– social work with various groups of customers;
– evaluation of social programs and projects.

The Department of Sociology of Management and Social Work is interested in cooperation with other educational and research institutions and sees as its main directions the next:
exchanging of teaching experience; guest lecturers; students’ practice on the base of partner organizations; joint research projects; joint social projects; joint publications; publications in the electronic edition of the Department; and others.
We are interested in cooperation with international partners and are ready to consider any proposals that correspond to our activity areas.
