COLLECTION WITH SCIENTIFIC AND APPLIED MATERIALS ON THE PROJECT OF THE SOCIAL WORKER’S CLUB AND PARTNERS WAS PRESENTED АТ THE UNIVERSITY OF RUSE
On January 28th 2020 at the “Angel Kanchev” University of Ruse a collection of scientific and applied materials “Good Educational and Professional Practices in Social Work – Knowledge and Experience for Growth and Development” was presented on the project “Educational and Social Platform for Knowledge, Creativity, Growth and Development”1 , implemented by the Social Worker’s Club. The author of the collection, which includes analysis of the results of the activities and conclusions, is Assoc. Prof. Sasho Nunev.
The project is realised with the support of Ruse Free Spirit City Municipal Foundation and in cooperation with our partners: Directorate for Health and Social Affairs – Ruse Municipality, Regional Directorate for Social Assistance – Ruse, Directorate for Social Assistance – Ruse, Non-profit Association “Equilibrium” – Ruse, Non-profit Association “Child and space”, Non-profit Association “Centre Dynamics” – Ruse, Foundation “Friendly Support” – Ruse, Foundation “Third Age” – Ruse, Association of people with intellectual disabilities – Ruse, Regional organization of the blind – Ruse, Bulgarian Red Cross, Caritas – Ruse, Bulgarian Association of Social Workers.
The project is the first of its kind at regional and national level and through it an educational and social platform for adoption of important for the training and work of the participants values, knowledge, skills and experience needed for a beneficial exchange of good educational and professional practices which are based on the conceptually thoughtful, constructive and productive interaction between education and practice in the field of Social Work is created.
The participants were welcomed by the Vice-Rector on development, coordination and continuous education Prof. Plamen Daskalov who highlighted the importance of the project 1 Project “Educational and Social Platform for Knowledge, Creativity, Growth and Development”: for the interaction between education and practice as well as the high activity and achievements of the Social Worker’s Club, which is one of the most successful ones in the University.
Mr Encho Enchev, Vice-Mayor on “Humanitarian activities” of the Ruse Municipality also greeted the participants and pointed out the need of good partnership between the University and Municipality of Ruse which should be focused on the better cohesion between science and professional and practical activity in the field of social work. Assoc. Prof. Nikola Sabev also greeted the participants on behalf of the Dean’s Management Team. The coordinator of the project and author of the collection Assoc. Prof. Sasho Nunev thanked the guests for the greetings and highlighted once again the need of such projects oriented towards the realisation of activities and the creation of production with significant educational, professional and social effect.
Along with this, he pointed out that they have a significant importance not only for the adoption of values, knowledge and skills and the exchange of good educational and professional practices but also for the increase of the social prestige of education and practice in social work and the profession of the social worker. Assoc. Prof. Sasho Nunev presented a thorough presentation which graphically and in short texts showed the quality and quantity analysis on the results and the activities from each and every stage of the projects as well as the conclusion from them which confirm the achievement of its aims and goals. In conclusion, he pointed out that through the created Educational and Social Platform for Knowledge, Creativity, Growth and Development high results have been achieved in educational, professional and social aspects and that its functioning after the end of project can be continued and can gain stability, professional and social significance as a model for interaction between education and professional practice in the field of social work which can improve the already existing model at the University of Ruse and other universities.
The view of Sasho Nunev is that this can be achieved through incorporation of the academic and professional societies in the field of social work, the local executive authorities in the field of social work and social assistance, providers of social services and the unity organisations aiming to fully utilise the resources need for the improvement of the quality and effectiveness of the education and practice in the field of social work, promotion and increase of their public prestige and the importance of the social worker’s profession.
At the end of the presentation, Sasho Nunev thanked all the participants for their active and responsible partnership during the realisation of the project and expressed his hopes that their cooperation will continue in other joint projects. During the discussion part of the event, Mrs Margarita Sabeva from the “Friendly Support” Foundation accentuated the need of such initiatives like the yearly Regional Forum for Good Educational and Professional Practices in the Field of Social Work, which started out as a regional forum and grew into an international one.
The Director of the Health and Social Affairs Directorate of Ruse Municipality Mrs Katya Petrova greeted all participants in the project for the excellent results. The Vice-Mayor on “Humanitarian activities” Mr Encho Enchev expressed his confidence that new opportunities for the development of good partnership between the Municipality of Ruse, the University of Ruse and social services in the municipality will be found aiming to improve their effectiveness and activity and the quality of the human resources in them.
At the end of the event, all participants received a collection with scientific and applied materials “Good Educational and Professional Practices in Social Work – Knowledge and Experience for Growth and Development”.
