Call for contributions for a book about Clinical Social Work

Professor Carol Tosone, Professor and Director, DSW Program in Clinical Social Work Editor-in-Chief, Clinical Social Work Journal New York  University  Silver School of Social Work in the USA and I are co-editing a volume on international social work for Rutledge Press.

The proposed book, International Encyclopedia of Clinical Social Work, will examine the state of clinical social work throughout the globe. The emphasis will be on understanding the nature of clinical social work as it is interpreted and practiced in each region of the world. Sections about clinical social work in each region will include the following topics: 1) What is the definition of clinical social work? 2) What are the contemporary theories that clinical social workers employ in their practice? 3) How does one conduct research on clinical social work? Are the practice models based on research?4) How are clinical social workers trained? Are there specific laws and policies related to clinical social work licensure and training? 5) What modalities constitute clinical social work practice: individual, couples, family, group, and/or community? 5) Major areas and special populations of clinical social work practice: a) trauma, b) addictions, c) children and adolescents, d) older adults, e) mental health. 6) Case examples/illustrations of specialty areas of clinical social work practice. and 7) Future directions and challenges pertaining to clinical social work.

We invite interested social work academics, authors, clinicians, and researchers to contribute to this groundbreaking and comprehensive volume based on your professional experience and that of your students. If interested, please submit an abstract indicating what region and topic you would like to cover. Also please share this information with potentially interested colleagues who have familiarity and practice related to the above topics. Please send us the information and the abstract no later than October 30 2018.
